Internet Marketing Coaches, Trainers, and Gurus Oh My!

coaching 300x203 Internet Marketing Coaches, Trainers, and Gurus Oh My!Is it just me or does it seem as though everyone and their dog is now an internet marketing coach, trainer, or guru? Earlier today I was cleaning out my email inbox and it seemed as though everything I read was signed off by someone using one of these titles.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against people calling themselves a coach or trainer, heck I’ve even done it myself. It’s just that I feel as though people believe that they must attach a title to their name in order to be taken seriously. But is it really necessary for everyone to have to claim to be a coach from day one?

I don’t see anything wrong with people teaching others as they learn themselves. People seem so afraid to show that they too are just learning the ropes which results in them coming off as a little bit fake.

My advice is to not be afraid to show people that you are learning and growing just as they are. I believe that it will not only make you come across as more down to earth but also show people that they don’t have to know everything from the jump.

Then as you start to feel a bit more confident in your abilities, then by all means, add a title to your name if you want. Nobody is stopping you and ultimately it’s your call.

Just remember that people will connect with you with or without the title. Simply share what you know in an unselfish manner, whether you learned it today or last year. Always strive to just be yourself since that’s really what you do best anyway!

  1. Angel,

A very cool and insightful article. We are with you… we find so many people claim to be experts, gurus, coaches and trainers yet what do they really know and what is their experience?
Be yourself, everyone else is taken.

    Thanks for the great advice!

Hi Angel – welcome to TSA!!! :-) I agree – it’s always better to yourself first. I guess there was/is a time where credentials are important (depending on the area, like health). But I know what you mean about “coaches” being every where. Actually we all coach, we have always coached – friends, family, etc. But there is a true art to being “coached”… so … being yourself first is the best. “Be yourself because everyone else is taken! :-)

Thanks Lesly, I’ve actually been with TSA since it started but i’ve gotten a bit behind and found myself in the lost tribe. I’m going to try to be more active though :)

I like that quote cause everyone else is indeed taken!

  3. I agree with you! With so many people claiming to be all of those things, I would just like to hear what some of their qualifications are before behind the titles. I think that it is better to be honest. With everyone claiming the title, all it does is make the title meaningless.
